The kids’ page has information and interactive activities to build knowledge.  The teen page was created for teens looking for honest, accurate information and advice about health, relationships, and growing up.  It offers a safe, private place that is accessible 24 hours a day.

A great place to visit if you are thinking of becoming a babysitter.  Includes great business practices, communication tips, information about the stages of children and their needs, and everything you’ll need to know to care for kids.  You can make your own flyer using the template provided.

Healthy Eating 

This website offers a program that analyzes and teaches kids about healthy eating.  Filled with recipes, games, challenges, exercise tips, links, and success stories, you will be inspired to visit this site again and again for healthy living.  Includes resources for parents and teachers.

NASA Kids Club  

This interactive site has information on the NASA, astronauts, the space station and more.  There are lots of games that incorporate pieces of space technology.  It also has information about the future plans for another moon landing.   If you’ve ever thought about a career in space exploration or just need some facts for research, this site will be most helpful.

Dog Breeds and Care  

This site alphabetically lists AKC recognized breeds from the home page with  attractive images of the dogs.  Clicking on  breeds gives you infromation about  AKC recognized traits: appearance, temperament, coat, color, etc.  Links on the left hand column lead to more links, including health information.  The “Kids/Juniors” page includes lots of fun and accessible topics, from responsible dog ownership topics to fun activities and coloring pages.

Cat Breeds and Care 

The Cat Fanciers’ Association is the world’s largest registry of pedigreed cats.  This site has everything for cat lovers – breed types and personalities, cat care, grooming, showing, as well as a site just for kids. 

Pets 

This is a fantastic website to help you select and take care of lots of different kids of pets, including horses, birds, fish, reptiles, and caged pets such as gerbils, hamsters, rabbits, and mice.  This site is maintained by the Amercian Veterinary Medical Association. 

The Cool Spot 

Here is a site from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), a U.S. agency concerned with the problems that arise from alcohol abuse. This site is specifically designed for middle school. The site presents facts and strategies for dealing with peer pressure and alcohol related problems. One of this site’s better features is that the content is not overbearing. It presents information is a friendly and supportive manner.

Green Thumbs

If you are interested in gardening and other green projects, take a look at this website run by the National Junior Horticultural Association.  Horticulture is often thought as gardening, but it is so much more. It’s the biotechnology of the future. It’s working with retirement and nursing homes with therapy. It’s helping commercial growers produce strawberries, sweet corn, and Christmas trees. It’s installing a landscape.  It’s the trees in your city, parks, and backyard.
