St. Johnsbury School serves the Town of St. Johnsbury, Vermont in the Northeast Kingdom. Our school has 700 students in grades PK-8 within a single building. The Library Media Center is situated in the middle of the St. Johnsbury School Building. It spans two floors, dividing the library into two collections, PK-4 and 4-8.  A circular staircase connects the two floors. The lower library has a story corner with risers, rocking chair, flat panel television which can be used with DVD, VHS, and computer/internet technologies. Five computer stations are available for students and staff to access the OPAC (online catalog).  These computers can be used for research, projects, and recreation.

The Upper library has instructional seating for 30 students or staff members. A Smartboard is available for interactive instruction. The upper library has four computer stations with the OPAC for student and staff use.

Over the course of a year we circulate more than 20,000 books from our collections of 25,000. The nonfiction collection is arranged on shelves according to the Dewey Decimal System. The fiction collection is divided into fiction, easy readers, and picture books.  The whole collection is accessible to all students at all levels.  Most books can be checked out for two weeks and renewed by request. There are no overdue fines, but students and their parents are responsible for lost or damaged materials.
